Boxmining Ethics Statement

Since its inception, Boxmining has been committed to upholding a rigorous ethics policy to maintain editorial independence and the integrity of our content. Our team adheres to the following guidelines, which are designed to exceed industry standards and foster trust with our audience.

Our Mission

At Boxmining, earning and retaining the trust of our readers is paramount. In an era of widespread information across various platforms, we prioritize transparent ethical standards to ensure our audience understands the source and reliability of our content.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial independence is our greatest asset, enabling us to produce content without external influence. We strive to deliver impartial and insightful coverage, particularly in the dynamic world of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. To safeguard this independence, our editorial team follows a strict code of conduct:

  • We do not accept gifts, services, or anything of value from companies or their representatives.
  • We do not agree to preconditions for coverage that dictate content.
  • We do not allow subjects to preview or approve interview questions or review content prior to publication.
  • Reporters are prohibited from covering entities where they have personal conflicts of interest.
  • We do not engage in paid endorsements.
  • We do not produce paid content as part of our editorial output.
  • Editorial staff do not personally invest in cryptocurrencies or companies we cover.
  • Boxmining covers all expenses for travel, meals, and accommodations related to our coverage.

Professional Conduct

Our team adheres to industry-standard ethical guidelines, including those outlined by the Society of Professional Journalists. We are dedicated to truthful reporting, protecting sources, minimizing harm, and ensuring accuracy and honesty in all published content.

Sourcing Standards

Boxmining maintains rigorous sourcing practices, with clear communication about our methods and a commitment to protecting confidentiality when necessary. For communications professionals or individuals speaking in an official capacity, we apply the following standards:

On the Record

By default, all statements are considered “on the record,” meaning we may quote you and attribute your identity. Corporate representatives are expected to communicate on the record unless a compelling reason is provided.

On Background

“On background” allows us to use information without directly identifying you, using descriptors like “industry insider” or “company spokesperson.” This requires mutual agreement, and we do not accept unilateral declarations of background status.

Off the Record

“Off the record” means information shared cannot be used in our reporting unless independently verified. This also requires explicit agreement, and we rarely grant off-the-record status to corporate representatives without strong justification.

Advertising

Boxmining’s advertising team operates independently from our editorial staff, ensuring no influence on editorial content. Sponsored content, developed by our advertising team, is clearly labeled as “Advertiser Content” or “Presented by” a sponsor. Editorial content remains free from advertiser interference.

Some content may include affiliate links, through which we may earn a commission. These links are automatically integrated and do not influence editorial decisions. Affiliate content is clearly disclosed.

Distributed Platforms

Boxmining’s content is shared across multiple platforms, including our website, Twitter, YouTube, and others. Our editorial standards apply uniformly across all platforms. Sponsored content on these platforms is clearly marked as “Presented by” or “Paid Content.”

Corrections and Updates

If errors occur, we promptly issue corrections, removing inaccurate information and noting the change. For updates that provide new context without correcting errors, we clearly indicate changes at the bottom of the article. Content may be removed if it violates intellectual property rights or applicable laws, in consultation with legal advisors.

Reviews

Our reviews provide honest, independent evaluations of products, services, or projects in the cryptocurrency and blockchain space. We may receive temporary access to products or services for evaluation but do not accept payment for reviews. Embargoes may be respected to evaluate products pre-launch.

Personal Investing

Editorial staff are prohibited from investing in cryptocurrencies or related companies to avoid conflicts of interest. Retirement accounts managed by third parties may include such assets, but employees have no direct control over these investments.

Other Employment

Boxmining staff may not work for or receive compensation from companies they cover, nor hold advisory roles at such entities. Freelance work for other publications requires approval from our editor-in-chief.

Giveaways

Occasionally, Boxmining may host contests or giveaways, with clear rules provided for each. These are not endorsements of sponsors or their products.

Partnerships

Boxmining may engage in partnerships with organizations aligned with our mission. Any content resulting from such partnerships is clearly disclosed, detailing the nature of the relationship and editorial involvement, if any.

Feedback

We value feedback on our ethical standards. If you have concerns or questions about our practices, please contact us at [insert contact email or form].

Michael Gu

Michael Gu

Michael Gu, Creator of Boxmining, stared in the Blockchain space as a Bitcoin miner in 2012. Something he immediately noticed was that accurate information is hard to come by in this space. He started Boxmining in 2017 mainly as a passion project, to educate people on digital assets and share his experiences. Being based in Asia, Michael also found a huge discrepancy between digital asset trends and knowledge gap in the West and China.
